therefore， thus， hence 這三個詞都表示“因而，因此”，但是用法上有區別，包括每個詞前後的標點符號，比如逗號和分號。

hence 較正式用詞，指接下來的東西是理所當然的必需的東西，但強調其重要性；

therefore 通常指引出一個推斷出的必然結論；

thus 多用於書面語中，可與therefore換用。

then和thus兩者都有“因此，所以”的意思，但thus是副詞，then是連詞，所以thus單獨使用，後面可以跟一個句子，但不能和前面的前提句子構成複合句，而then可連線兩個句子，構成複合句。

hence和therefore兩個詞意思一致。互為彼此的意義。而用法也是相似的。

根據cambridge advanced learner’s dictionary

therefore 又一般放在句中，而hence則一般放在句末。
