inquire和enquire其實是一個詞的兩種拼寫法。但是，大多數人的用法為：

inquire=調查，enquire=詢問。

enquire是不及物動詞，一般後面接 about。

did he enquire about me？

你問到我了嗎？

inquire可以是及物也可以是不及物動詞，

the pilot inquired about the weather condition。（不及物）

這飛行員查問天氣情況。

i inquired the way to the station。（及物）

我打聽去火車站怎麼走。
