“Scarborough Fair” 史卡保羅集市。在中世紀時期，Scarborough是來自全歐洲的商人經常聚集的一個海邊重鎮，非常繁華，而現在只是英格蘭西北部一個默默無聞的小鎮。作為歌曲，Scarborough Fair原是一首古老的蘇格蘭民間謎歌（riddle song），所謂”riddle song”，是指那些民間流傳廣泛，但是不知道作者是誰的歌曲，而且由於人們的相互傳唱，本來的曲調已經改變了很多。

在70年代，Paul Simon與Art Garfunkel二重唱將它翻唱、收錄於電影《畢業生》的原聲帶中，很多人以為這首歌叫做“畢業生”，其實它的名字叫《史卡保羅集市》“Scarborough Fair”

本人覺得那句Parsley saye rosemary and thyme如果直譯，讓人很難理解，無法表達其中意味。

Scarborough是英國東部的一個小鎮，每年8月15日起有一個近兩個月的商業集會，後由於當地地面下沉而不再進行。目前的Scarborough只是一個寧靜的小鎮。加拿大多倫多市也有一個地區以Scarborough命名。

歌曲描寫的是一個被情人拋棄的男子，試圖找回情人卻不果的絕望。parsley， sage， rosemary，thyme這四種藥用植物在中世紀的英國都有象徵意義，和今天的戀人手中的紅玫瑰差不多。其中，parsley被中世紀的醫生用作鎮痛藥物，也用於減緩精神上的痛苦；sage即鼠尾草，象徵著力量；rosemary象徵著忠誠，愛情和永恆的記憶，古希臘的戀人們用以表達自己的愛慕；thyme即百里香，中世紀的騎士們赴戰場作戰，常把thyme掛在自己的盔甲上，因此thyme常常象徵著勇氣
